Chorus Choir (SATB Chorus) - Level 4 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.1629550

Composed by Camille Saint-Saens. Arranged by Rowen Fox. This edition: pdf, streaming. Classical, Latin, Lent, Romantic Period, Sacred. 16 pages. Rowen Fox #1197901. Published by Rowen Fox (A0.1629550).

For Tenor Soloist, SATB Choir and piano/organ accompaniment.

Choirs often need arrangements written for reduced forces. This arrangement combines two movements featuring the tenor soloist and choir - removing the other soloists - from the Dies irae sequence portion of Saint-Saëns masterful Requiem (Op.54). Specifically, No.3. Rex tremendae is combined with the end of No.2. Dies irae; the setting of the verses Liber scriptus and Quid sum miser. Although the pieces present out of order from the original, the music nevertheless flows well both harmonically and textually. The beautiful Quid sum miser is repeated to a restatement of the Rex tremendae text, thereby giving the entire arrangement a more pleasing textual unity.
