Composed by M. Dautremer for the Paris Conservatoire contest, Story and Impromptu is a piece for Bb clarinet and piano accompaniment. Dedicated to Auguste Perier, Professor at the Conservatoire, and inspired from Page d?Exil, this piece requires advanced skills to be executed perfectly. Starting as a recitation and lasting approximately 6 minutes, the melodious piece features a cadenza and is divided as per below: 1. Recitative 2. Moderato 3. Cadenza 4. Largo.
