Derek Hasted writes "My arrangements of this fantastic and powerful piece were written during the 2020 Coronavirus Lockdown. The title says it all!
This gorgeous piece features on Secret Garden’s “White Stones” Album and their compilation “Dreamcatcher” collection.
Both my arrangements for two guitars are based on the original piece and contains all the sections of the original (but no orchestra or Irish Pipes!)
This arrangement is "advanced intermediate" and swaps the tune and accompaniment roles around at the verse boundary - it suits a well-matched duo.
The arpeggios are fingered because they generally only work well in one position, and the one-tone rise in the original is accomplished by tuning the two guitars to 6=D and 6=E and swapping roles at the key change - we need the open strings of the guitar to mimic the sustain of the piano.
The melody, by contrast, is unfingered; there is no single place on the neck where all the notes are accessible. It’s really a matter of personal choice where you change position and whether you prefer to stay high up the neck for vibrato or venture down to get a punchier, brighter tone in the loud sections.
