His most notable works include ballets like 'Coppélia' and 'Sylvia' as well as the operas 'Le roi l'a dit' and 'Lakmé'. Coppélia is a comic ballet from 1870 originally choreographed by Arthur Saint-Léon to the music of Léo Delibes, with libretto by Charles-Louis-Étienne Nuitter. The ballet and its music became very popular. Especially the Mazurka from the first act is even today very wellknown and often played on its own. Dutch arranger Jos Dobbelstein transcribed the short Prelude followed by the Mazurka for Symphonic Band.
