SATB choir with some divisi and cantor, a cappella - Medium

SKU: PL.9631

Composed by David Ashley White. Cathedral. Choral, Evensong. Octavo. Paraclete Press #9631. Published by Paraclete Press (PL.9631).

This setting of the Preces and Responses continues in the great tradition of English cathedral music. The lyric flow of the choral writing, reminiscent of Howells, is combined with a more contemporary harmonic and rhythmic style. The centerpiece of the work is an extended setting of The Lord's Prayer, which gradually expands from the opening unison to a sonorous harmonization of the phrase "and lead us not into temptation." These Preces and Responses should find a favored place in the repertoire of music for Evensong.
