Its lyrics and haunting chordal harmony has made it a favorite with fans down through the years This arrangement retains the Barbershop voice structure, while keeping the Freshmen's modern and tight chordal harmony. Here, the melody is moved from the top voice to the Lead voice. To keep the Freshmen's great balance, the harmony voices should sing with equal volume while keeping the melody prominent throughout.

It all started in 1948, when four college freshmen crafted a unique style of vocal harmony that soon caught the ear of the great bandleader Stan Kenton, who brought them to Capitol Records, where they would eventually record 23 albums, 75,albums in all, thrusting them into the national spotlight and winning numerous awards year after year.
