So begeistert äußerte sich Paul Hindemith, als er das Schulorchester der Stadt Plön erlebte. "Da fangen wir mit einer Morgenmusik an, die vom Turm geblasen wird, dann machen wir eine Kantate im Park, zur Mittagstafel eine Tafelmusik und abends dann im Rittersaal eine Abendmusik." Die Nummer 5 dieser Abendmusik aus dem "Plöner Musiktag" ist das "Trio für Blockflöten". Schon 1932 erschien eine Ausgabe von Walter Bergmann, der die originale Phrasierung und Artikulation den damaligen Gepflogenheiten des Blockflötenspiels anpasste. Diese Neuausgabe geht wieder auf das Original zurück, wie es vor kurzem in der Paul-Hindemith-Gesamtausgabe erschienen ist. Beibehalten wurde allerdings die noch heute gebräuchliche Stimmung der drei Blockflöten S-A-A(oder T).
