Composed by Adrian Dee. This edition: audio, pdf, streaming. 21st Century, Chamber, Classical. Score. 38 pages. Adrian Dee #1207153. Published by Adrian Dee (A0.1639517).
In the first movement, Seagulls, the two voices wistfully float together, sometimes in parallel and sometimes not, gently weaving and swooping in and around each other, until they drift away into the cloudy coastal breezes.
In the second movement, Dolphins, the two voices splash and play, take a rest break, then return to their games, including laughing at their fun. This movement uses an irregular meter (alternating 7/8 and 5/8 measures: 3-2-2-3-2).
The entire piece runs about 7 minutes. Written for two E-flat flutes, this set includes a full score, as well as transcribed parts for C-Flute so that, in the event only one E-flat flute is available, the other part can be played on a regular C-flute. You can listen to the short audio clip here, and watch the full video of the premier at the Mid-Atlantic Flute Festival in Washington, DC, at this YouTube link.
