This document is an instructional unit in the MIW Basic Keyboard Skills Method. This unit explains how the keyboard works and how its various parts are named. It shows the relationship between the visual layout of the keyboard and the key map tablature notation. It explains how the white keys are named and how the black keys are identified by their numerical addresses. It does not provide any exercises. The last half of the unit provides identifying labels for each of the 7 identical octave groups on the piano keyboard.
