Composed by Various. Arranged by Tristan Manoukian. Score. 28 pages. Les Productions d'OZ #DZ 2724. Published by Les Productions d'OZ (DZ.DZ-2724).
ISBN 9782897376413.
Usually, when I arrange pieces for guitar, I try to keep as many harmonies, voices, and notes as possible, which makes them somewhat challenging to play. However, in this collection, the goal is completely reversed: it aims to make some masterpieces accessible to young guitarists, with the main wish of broadening their access to music history. Except for one piece suitable for beginners, this first volume covers the second and third years of guitar learning. I set three working axes for myself:
Each piece must be very beautiful and convey a certain sensitivity. Each arrangement must be "guitaristic," not forcing the performer into overly complex fingerings and utilizing open strings to lighten the hand. Each arrangement must correspond to specific technical content (indicated by keywords), and the set of arrangements must represent the most comprehensive technical range possible. I also tried to ensure a diversity of keys. This collection is dedicated to Sylvain Cinquini, who instilled in me a love for arrangement from a young age. He also supported me on this project with his always precise and thorough feedback. I also thank Joris Barcaroli, Rémi Jousselme, and Emil Tamagna for their enthusiastic feedback. Lastly, I must mention that the quality of Patrick Guillem's arrangements in his Guitare Album inspired my adaptations.
