Monday, musical Monday. The weekend has ended, and as we get back to work or school, we never know what lies ahead. We open our week, as the Petite Sinfonietta does, with casual social gatherings and chatter about what happened over the weekend. Then we get to work, focused work. That is reflected in the second movement. A lively work afternoon peppered with spirited social exchanges allow us to end our work/school Monday on a high. That feeling is conveyed in the uplifting final movement. Designed to enhance the listening skills of all members of the orchestra, the Petite Sinfonietta offers musical directors opportunities to have sections of the orchestra pass along the themes. Students will learn to listen for the themes while playing their accompaniment quietly.The music provides technical challenges for all instruments and opportunities for all to shine.
