Gabriel Fauré originally composed the Pavane In F-Sharp Minor, Op. 50 for piano and later rearranged it for orchestra and optional chorus (late 1880s). This arrangement for flutes is based on the orchestral version, which became one of his most well-known pieces. Pavane begins with a gentle, simple backing over which soars a supple, passionate melody you will not soon forget.
The instrumentation for this edition is extremely flexible. It can be performed as a quartet, quintet, or flute choir. Parts are included as listed:
Part 1 Flute
Part 2 Flute
Optional Part 3 Flute
Part 4 Alto Flute (Flute)
Part 5 Bass Flute/Flute (Alto Flute).
