Paul Wehage: Vie Nomade for solo violoncello by Paul Wehage Cello Solo - Digital Sheet Music

By Paul Wehage

This work is freely inspired by a missive translated by the Assyriologue Pierre Marello (to whom this piece is dedicated) in the "Florilegium marianum", supplement to the N.A. B.U. (1991): a letter of complaint sent to the brother of the writer where there is an conflict between two ideal: "the nomadic warrior's life and the bourgeois city-dweller's life".The piece begins with a free lyric passage, where expression is at the fore. In the central part of the work, rhythmic and very structured motives lead towards greater and greater violence. After a short silence, the freely-expressed lyric themes of the beginning returns, perhaps to suggest the immutability of Time and of men?
