This delightful song was written by Henry VIII, probably for his first wife, Catherine of Aragon. This arrangement celebrates the Tudor roots of the song, but goes further into the cornucopia of possibilities offered by original writing. It begins much as envisioned by its composer, but develops into a fantasia of different styles - there are some lively joyous moments and others rather more gentle, and one rather sombre but dramatic passage referencing earlier music. It is arranged for mixed choir, SAT or SAB (the male voice line will suit any voice) with a lively piano part.
