The music of the Austrian Imperial-Royal court composer Fux takes us back to a time in which Vienna's musical life overwhelmingly followed Italian models. The Overture to "Pulcheria" also clearly reflects this influence. The trumpet is only used in the rapid sections which bracket the two Adagio sections for strings. The final movement is a fugue which concludes with a short, coda-like Adagio. This first edition is based on the manuscript from the Austrian National Library in Vienna.
