Our publications of windmusic from the era of the French Revolution have met with a lot of success. A few of these works are 'Symphony in one Movement' (Jadin) and 'Symphony for Concertband' (Gossec). Out of the collection known to us so far this Overture is the most beautiful one. One is reminded of Mozart, but not in the way when windinstruments are sure to 'break their necks' on the impossible task of playing fragile parts originally written for strings.
