No doubt, 'Our Director' is one of the most popular marches ever. Compo-ser Frederick Ellsworth Bigelon (1873-1929) was a pharmacist living in Massachusetts who played the clarinet and the saxophone in his spare time. He composed this march in 1892 for Joseph Morrisette, conductor of the Ashland Brass Band. The march become extremely popular and was published in different instrumental and orchestral arrangements. The trio became the official students' war song at Harvard University in 1916 and was sung as a liberation song during World War I. Gosling Mol made this fine arrangement for symphonic and fanfa-re band in 1960.
