Beautiful and heartbreaking
This piece was a lucky find. It's in Carus's Wiegenlieder book and one of the more difficult arrangements in it. Not that it's hard, but needs a bit more than a couple practices still suited for a decent high school choir. The text is a lullaby, sung by a couple that is childless and wishing for a child. It has a melancholy feel to it. It's a Macedonian folksong and in a slow irregular meter. Great for exposing singers to the 7/8 meter which switches patterns sometimes as well as highlights each section and has a really nice climax. Great for an emotional piece, folksong, or lullabies-theme.
