Here is a serene and reflective setting of the Nunc dimittis (Song of Simeon) for Mixed Choir (SATBdiv). It is the second of Two Canticles from the Christmas Story. The first motet in this set is a setting of the Magnificat (Song of Mary). Using the standard English ICET texts, both motets serve many liturgical functions but of course may be sung at other times as well. If performed in a concert, these motets may be performed individually or as a set since both are in F major. The Magnificat ends on the Dominant (C major) which nicely sets up the beginning of the Nunc dimittis. For more information and music, visit www.jubalslyre.com/music.
