Grieg composed the Funeral March in memory of his friend and fellow Norwegian composer Rikard Nordraak in 1866. This somber and dramatic work of about 6 minutes in length has been gloriously arranged for 8-part Trombone Ensemble of advanced performers by Randall Malmstrom. Grieg requested this work to be performed at his funeral.
The first two parts are in alto clef and reach high D's several times.
