An uneasy nocturne in which the augmented fourth (diabolus in musica - devil in music) disturbs the restless sleeper - he looks out at the night sky and wonders what is coming.

The music was originally a song for alto and guitar ("3 words too many") written by the composer many years ago:
Say it in words and you cheat
you cheat the indefinable
you cheat your beloved
you cheat yourself
and it disappears
your beloved becomes as nothing
for you have confined her
to the words you speak
for thought is not reached
and it disappears
you have spoken yourself
into the temporal
which cheats love
It cannot uphold it
and it disappears
do not speak of love
do not speak my love
lest it disappear!
