Published by Mike DeWeese (A0.919560).Originally meant to be a silly, overly sad, tongue-in-cheek piece of music, Nocturne evokes emotions of melancholy, longing, and passion. During the early stages of composing this piece, it became obvious to me that the music was going someplace where comedy didn't feel right. Because of that, I decided to ditch the original instrumentation of kazoo, voice, and piano, and instead went with flugelhorn and piano. Nocturne includes most of everything I love playing as a trumpeter: lyrical melodies, melodies over jazz chords, and a more technical section to show off a little bit. Great for recitals!
All of the music was composed in FL Studio, with the flugelhorn part recorded by me and the piano part sequenced using the Pearl Concert Grand sample library from Impact Soundworks. .
