By Dolly Parton. By Dolly Parton. Arranged by Allen Gibson. Country,Pop. Individual part. 3 pages. Allen Gibson #875138. Published by Allen Gibson (A0.1283970).

Arranged for a four-octave carillon. The range is from the lowest pedal D to G up three and a half octaves.

"Nine to Five" was written by Dolly Parton for the film 9 to 5 that was released in 1980. The melody is upbeat, contrary to the struggles described by the song’s narrator, and drives from verse to chorus and back again. This arrangement captures the energy of Parton’s original performance, with a modest pedal line that gives the spotlight to the manuals, which deliver the song’s melody, harmonies, and other elements such as punchy “brass” hits and chromatic transitions. The author has made some minor adjustments to the song’s melody to make performance easier on the carillon after careful development.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard’s global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters.
