"My Child" is a sweet, sensitive and endearing work for SSAA women's choir, piano accompaniment and flute.  The flute part is highly featured.  I wrote the work at the request of one of my friends in the choir that I sing in (she is a flautist and her mother is our accompanist).  Searching for inspiration, I reflected on my grandmothers, whom I never knew, and my own children, now grown.  The tenderness of childhood and motherhood is so ephemeral - like the wind and the sun.
