At the commemoration ceremonies of the "60th anniversary of the Liberation" several stories about the concentration camps were brought up once more. Most poignant was the improvised act by an ex prisoner of the Auschwitz camp, scantily dressed in the frosty weather, calling for attention for the terrible injustice done to those people. These stories reminded the composer of the stories told by members of his family that had been locked up in those camps. "Moving Spirits" is dedicated to those who have been imprisoned and those who have died in these concentration camps. The title refers to the fact that this terrible experience marked those people for life. The spiritual quiet and peace will perhaps never come back because one is still wondering "why?".
