Pádraig Pearse ( 1879 - 1916 ) was one of the leaders or the Irish Revolution ( called THE RISING ) in 1916. He was a Barrister and Irish Language enthusiast, who established his futuristc Irish language schools in Dublin in the 1900s. He wrote both of the Poems( one in Irish and one in English ) which Marie O'Reilly uses for her bilingual song. This SATB setting is accessible for an average ability Choir, and stands well on its own, although of course a Piano Accompaniment also exists.
