Over the years the serpent was largely superseded by the tuba and euphonium and its use became almost non-existent. The instrument has had a resurgence of interest from the music world because of its unique sound and features, with recordings and scholarly research being done.
Serpent aficionado Marc Lindy has done a marvelous job in rediscovering and editing this lost Complete and Systematic Method for Serpent, restoring it, adding valuable information into this modern edition and reintroducing it to the world with the help of Douglas Yeo, Dr. Kenneth Jimenez, Michel Godard and Volny Hostiou.
