This short meditation on the chant theme of the "Requiem Eternam" (Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord) is ideal as a prelude or offertory organ solo for funerals and memorial services. 1) In the opening part, the organ manuals state the theme in a flowing perpetuum mobilefeeling in the 6/8 meteras it overlays hints of the theme. 2) Then, in the part of the piece, the theme is heard in its original form in the pedal. The piece is sure to delight the listener with the symbolism of perpetual light for the deceased, as reflected in the flow of the Perpetuum Mobile effect.
