This three-movement suite (A Sunday in Saint Louis Cathedral; Give me luck... NOW; Hoodoo and Ritual Dance on the Congo Square) was premiered at the 2013 NFA Convention in New Orleans by the University of Veracruz Flute Ensemble. Ruben Flores uses a variety of extended techniques (harmonics, key slaps, wind tone) in these vignettes to help tell the story of Marie Leveaux, a 19th-century Creole Voodoo practicioner. Instrumentation: Piccolo, 5 C Flutes, 2 Alto Flutes, Bass Flute.
