This delightful vocal duet from the popular operetta, The Merry Widow (Die Lustige Witwe), has been carefully arranged for wind quintet. The opening begins with a beautiful duet for oboe and bassoon, before the flute enters to play the main waltz theme. The clarinet also gets an opportunity to play the melody later, so there is something for everyone in this arrangement. Although presented here as a standalone instrumental version, it was originally created to accompany two soloists, singing the roles of Count Danilo and the widow Anna.
