on repeated patterns and textures sustainable by these instruments. Loops is constructed from motifs established
by each instrument. Each motif loops around, overlapping each other to create a musical texture. Mosaics and Images
were begun after a reunion trip to Washington, DC. Mosaics recalls the jazz music of Miles Davis I would listen to it on hot summer evenings with the windows open. The "Sketches of Spain" album. Later I visited Barcelona the home of both
Gaudi and Picasso. Images must have been a premonition. It was only after I saw the exquisite stained glass windows of the Gaudi Sagrada Familia that I was able to complete this movement. Patterns is just that. Changing patterns in my own fashion. A colleague suggested substituting a fourth marimba for second xylophone in this movement to provide a more mellow texture.
