As in Sydney Showers, the five clarinet conversation depicts showers and intervening quiet, sunny periods as observed in cities like Sydney. The reworking was to avoid too "advanced" harmonies and replace these with more traditional chord structures so that it has been used for teaching less advanced clarinet choir participants to listen to each other and identify the underpinning harmonic structure. It is also a good teaching tool for scalework.
