Composed by Carl Schalk. Arranged by Carl Schalk. Choral. Octavo. With music. Concordia Publishing House #984122. Published by Concordia Publishing House (CR.984122).

UPC: 078777073466. 7 x 10.25 inches. Text: George W. Kitchin.

Carl F. Schalk's setting has been a perennial favorite since 1980 for choirs and congregations of all denominations. This concertato based on Sydney H. Nicholson's tune CRUCIFER and using the text by George W. Kitchin and Michael R. Newbolt is scored for SATB choir, congregation, organ, brass quartet (two trumpets, two trombones), and timpani. The text is appropriate for festivals, mission and witness, and Holy Cross Day. It is also the hymn of the day for St. Barnabas.

This setting was updated by the composer to include the six hymn stanzas used in Lutheran Service Book. It replaces the original Choral Score (98-2468), Full Score (97-5548), and Instrumental Parts (97-5549).

This updated Choral Score includes parts for choir, organ, and reproducible congregation page. It also includes organ cues to be used when brass is not available.

A Full Score with reproducible parts for two trumpets, two trombones, and timpani will be available by download (97-7478PDF) or print on demand (97-7478POD).
