Derek Hasted writes "This charming piece has become incredibly well-known in the UK as the theme tune to the TV series of the same name - one of the UK’s longest running comedies.
The music elegantly captures the calm of country life and the simplicity of times gone by, and makes for a refreshing and accessible concert item whether you know the original music or not.
In my arrangement, Guitar 1 and Guitar 2 take turns to play the tune - each part is clearly labelled - and the weaving motifs of the haunting melody are underpinned by an accompaniment that mirrors the rhythm and harmony of the original.
Fingering for the upper parts is left to the players - some may want to stay up the neck throughout for a rich and mellow tone, others may feel more confident coming lower down the neck for the lower notes to keep the majority of them off the wire-wound strings.
