David Popper (1843-1913) was a Bohemian cello virtuoso and composer. He composed many pieces for cello. 'Largo espressivo' is the forth movement of Suite Op.16 originally written for two cellos. It is very beautiful and dramatic, however viola part requires very high playing skill.
