"La leyenda del beso" ("The leyend of a kiss") is a zarzuela in three acts, with music composed by Reveriano Soutullo and Juan Vert. Premiered in 1924, the work blends love, passion, and drama with the peculiarity of a gypsy legend. Set in a gypsy camp, the protagonist, Mario, falls in love with Amapola, a gypsy with a tragic destiny linked to a legend about a kiss that brings death. This version of its interlude, the best-known part, the work has been revised and adapted to be performed by a student orchestra.
