Byzantine Chant. Composed by Jessica SuchyPilalis. Sacred; Nativity. Choral score. With Language: English. Musica Russica #OMP-JSP001. Published by Musica Russica (MR.OMP-JSP001).

English Translation by Archimandrite Ephrem (Lash).

This is the first complete musical setting of the full Kanon for the Nativity of Christ (heirmoi and troparia) by melodist-composer Dr. Jessica R. Suchy-Pilalis, using the English translation by Fr. Ephrem (Lash), the Ecumenical Patriarchate's official translator for the English language.

The publication employs Dr. Suchy-Pilalis's groundbreaking method of artistically applying the Byzantine chant formulas to the English text in a manner that results in both a preservation of the traditional chant style and proper inflection and phrasing.

To enable use by both classically trained chanters and by choirs, the notation is presented in Byzantine neumes and in Western staff notation.

For ease of use as katavasiais during the 40 days of the Nativity Fast, each heirmos is printed on a separate page.
