Journey After Journey is another trio from our Trumpet Pioneer series of trumpet compositions. These are trumpet compositions intended to give the earliest beginners a legitimate opportunity to perform. The compositions are genuine performance pieces with truly creative content. It should be easy enough for the beginners to perform (with some rehearsal and personal practice) but also interesting for the audience as well.
In Journey After Journey, the highest note is written C in the staff. The rhythms are limited to quarter-notes, half-notes and whole-notes. And the key is in B flat concert. The composition is a bit longer than most of our other beginner compositions, but each player is given plenty of opportunities to rest. The most difficult part of learning this piece is that there are places where each trumpet player must enter independently from the others. I call this "rhythmic independence" and is the main educational focus of this piece. .
