Flute Sextet Flute (2 Flutes (doubling Piccolos), 2 Flutes, Flute (doubling Alto Flute), Flute(doubling Bass Flute)) - Level 5

SKU: BZ.ENMS-84536

Composed by Satoshi Yagisawa. Ensemble. Score & parts. Bravo Music #ENMS-84536. Published by Bravo Music (BZ.ENMS-84536).

Commissioned by Flute Ensemble Gimonaus, six flautists from western Japan. The request was for a sextet, so I decided on a suite describing six differing characters. Though I have done a number of flute ensembles, it took a conversation with my wife to learn about various jewels and ores. This was a completely new take for my thinking, and I decided to give it a try.

The movements is are Diamond, Ruby, Topaz, Emerald, Lapis Lazuli, and Black Onyx.

Whether or not you love jewels, or know a lot or little about them, please imagine yourself a bejeweled person to perform this suite with an elegant sound.

The 1st through 3rd movements use no alto and bass flutes, considering the limited amount of instruments out there. Both of them are used on the final three movements, exploring the musical potential of the piece. The movements may be performed independently. Please discover your brilliance in presenting this work!
