This is an arrangement for advanced string quartet of that great Duke Ellington song. If your violist is a jazz person they will dig it, because there is an entire verse (jazz terminology: “chorus”) for an ad lib solo for the viola. In the video and mp3 there is no jazz solo written out – it’s just the melody, so the violist can either just play the melody (boring?) or take improvisatory flight.
