As its title suggests this composition is a musical evocation of Ireland. The original themes of this work are strongly influenced by traditional Irish folk music. Each of the three movements reflects part of the Irish character. Following a solemn introduction the first movement springs into life showing the cheery side of the Irish character. The second movement is a ballad with a simple, natural and peaceful melody that inspires a feeling of fullness.The final movement introduces a lively Irish dance in 6/8 time. This joyous piece is a must for your concert band repertoire.

Zoals de titel al aangeeft, roept deze compositie een muzikaal beeld van Ierland op. Het werk is be nvloed door de Ierse volksmuziek en bestaat uit drie delen met elk een eigen, herkenbaar karakter. Na een enigszins plechtige inleidingvolgt een speels thema dat de vrolijke kant van de Ierse aard voortreffelijk uitdrukt. Het tweede deel neemt de vorm aan van een ballad, waarvan de vloeiende golving een eenvoudige, natuurlijke en vredige melodie ondersteuntdie een gevoel van warmte teweegbrengt. In het laatste deel wordt een levendige Ierse dans ge ntroduceerd in een stuwende 6/8 maat. Dit vrolijk stemmende stuk is een must in het repertoire van uw harmonie- of fanfareorkest.

Irish Sketches sind musikalische Eindrücke aus Irland von Luc Gistel. Das Werk lehnt sich stilistisch an irische Volksmusik an, verwendet dabei aber ausschließlich Originalthemen des Komponisten. Das dreiteilige Werk fängt mit einer feierlichen Einführung und einem verspielten Thema im ersten Satz, einer friedvollen Ballade im zweiten Satz und schließlich einem Volkstanz im irischen Stil im dritten Satz den Charakter dieses wunderschönen Landes und seiner Bevölkerung treffend ein.

Irish Sketches (“Esquisses irlandaises”), comme le suggère son titre, est une évocation musicale de l’Irlande. Le caractère espiègle et joyeux des danses et doux parfum de la musique traditionnelle d’Irlande se marient avec élégance et finesse dans cette pièce influencée par les éléments caractéristiques de cette musique qui respire la joie de vivre.
