A lovely alto ballad feature (with a flugelhorn leading the sax section plus 4 trumpets). Predominately in a serious Billy Strayhorn ballad style, there are contemporary dense harmonies with two brief rubato ensemble passages used as bookends to frame the melodic material and the solo section. Demanding piece for the alto soloist and the rhythm section. Doubles: Alto 1 & 2 on flute; Tenor 1 & 2 on clarinet; Bari on Bs. Clar (optional flugelhorn substitute lead part).
