Here is a vibrant Chorale Prelude with a vigorous ritornello on the hymn "I Will Sing My Maker's Praises" (SOLL'T ICH MEINEM GOTT) by Johann Schop (c. 1590-1644). Inspired by the hymn improvisations of Paul Manz (1919-2009), it is particularly effective to solo out the melody on a strong solo trumpet, but the melody may also be played with full organ. This setting may be used to introduce the hymn, as a Prelude or Postlude for a worship service, or as as a stand-alone, hymn-based work on an organ concert.
