The CELLO takes the melody for the middle verse. This song is written in 6/8 time which will help develop skill playing in this less common time signature. Also, using hooked bows for the quarter–eighth note combinations will produce a more flowing, rhythmic sound.
This is an excellent selection for early-intermediate string players since all notes for the VIOLIN and CELLO are playable in the first position with one exception for the cello (the C#3 requires an extension/stretch of the 4th finger on the G string or shift to 2nd position).
