Humility is an evocative song for voice and piano or guitar, that tells the story of how looking back we can accept the good and the bad that accompanied us in our lives, knowing that in the end, just accepting what life has thrown at us can help us achieve a sense of peace. Humility is the mother of sincerity which provides us with the freedom to keep going no matter what, because there it is only real peace in moving on in truth and acceptance. We are called to live each day and don't look back, but sometimes looking back can help us strive forward in a new and beautiful way. The world may have forgotten what humility is, but in our hearts we haven't.
The first stanza references the sonnet by John Milton On his blindness where I have adapted it to suit the story of Humility. It has a rich melody with a harmonic support and uplifting chorus, which gives this song a sense of wonder and charm.
