Honor Bound: to be obligated and required by one’s own code of conduct to do what is ethically right. This is often referenced in the military but applies equally to our everyday conduct and is how a free society can function. The march is intended to represent the dignity and worth of the individual.Honor Bound is a traditional style military march containing important opportunities for each section, including the percussion introduction and interlude, trumpet fanfare at m. 5, low brass melody in the second strain and woodwind lead at m. 66. The notated dynamics are essential for musical contrast. The tempo can vary depending on the skill of the students and the preference of the conductor.
