Trio Sonata in c minor for Oboe, Violin, and basso - S.258 (III.Presto)
The presto section of this lively baroque trio sonata will definitely bring to mind the other more famous Johann. In fact, Heinichen was not only a contemporary of Bach's, but they shared some of the same patrons.
The clarinet voice superbly captures the feel of small chamber group baroque sound very well. There is a lovely interplay between the various voices, and unlike some baroque pieces which don't always seem to have a definite melody, I find myself humming this melody after I hear it each time. The arrangement is for soprano/soprano/alto/bass, but there is an optional soprano sub for bass part for quartets with no alto clarinet.
