Heine und Goethe Lieder by Camille van Lunen Baritone Voice - Sheet Music

By Camille van Lunen

Du bist wie eine Blume (You are like a flower), a fragrant, spring love poem. What relevance can it have today? Does its meaning, the author's poetic gesture, still come across in all its immediacy? Drawing a flower containing the poem formed the disassociation which inspired me. "Wandrers Nachtlied" (Wanderer's Night Song) is dedicated to my friend Dirk Ritter. When I visited him last summer at the end of his long struggle with illness I suddenly knew how to set this poem, which then came out in one go. It's a true wanderer's song; the singer walks, singing, out of life itself.
