This piece is Sol Del Risco's debut in the world of composition. Although she has composed various pieces before, this 3-movement piece is her biggest work so far.
This piece features 3 unique movements, each representing an aspect of the a frozen world. Vast Tundra represents the an open field of ice, the echoing musical ideas showing the loneliness of seeing one's own reflection within the ice. Luminous Icicle explores harmonies within the two brass instruments, and serves as a hauntingly beautiful ballad set in a cavern full of ice. Blizzard is the short but epic conclusion, the storm before peace sets in, and shows how one's own inner turmoil shines out for the greater good in the long run. Using two unique low brass instruments, the composer shows the beauty and unrest laid deep inside every person's ice.
