Jazz ensemble (5-4-4-4) - Grade 4

SKU: S1.SMP-1075

Composed by Les Hooper. Arranged by Les Hooper. Slow, Swingin' Blues. Score and parts. Published by Sierra Music (S1.SMP-1075).

What a great, fun-filled piece this is! Les has created a mythical character (in this case, the lead trombone player) who runs through a number of "musician jokes" while referring to his "brother." After the hilarity of the beginning of the chart, lead alto takes over with a wonderful written solo. This is all set in a slow, bluesy kind of feel and tempo. There is also solo space for the trombonist/narrator. This is a clever, hip, piece that makes a great addition to any program. Les recorded this with his big band on "Live at Typhoon." 5-4-4-4.
